BEIRUT, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- Lebanon's newly-appointed Prime Minister Hassan Diab vowed on Friday to form a government of experts to deal with the current economic and political challenges, the National News Agency reported.
"I totally understand the demands of the protesters. I only ask them to give us some time to form an exceptional government capable of dealing with urgent matters in the country," Diab said was cited as saying.
"We will all work as a team regardless of our political affiliations," he said, the government will be formed within a month.
Diab said he refuses to be labeled as representing Hezbollah or any other political party.
"This government will represent all of Lebanon and we will do our best to hire neutral experts as ministers," he said.
On Thursday, Diab won the majority of parliamentary votes to become the new prime minister.
Diab succeeded in securing 69 out of 128 parliamentary votes to form a new government, which will end 50 days of political stalemate.
