BEIJING, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- The Cyberspace Administration of China has issued a regulation prohibiting content and service producers, users and platforms from engaging in cyberbullying, human flesh searches, deepfakes and other illegal activities.

The regulation aims to maintain a clean Internet environment and safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of the citizens, legal persons and other organizations, the authority said.

Content providers on the Internet should avoid producing, copying or publishing gossip and scandals, the regulation said.

Content and service platforms should improve their systems of user registration, account management, information review and rumor handling, among others, according to the regulation.

The regulation will take effect on March 1, 2020.
