TAIYUAN, Dec. 26 (Xinhua) -- Police in Taiyuan, north China's Shanxi Province, have detained 72 suspects in an online fraud case involving over 30 million yuan (around 4.29 million U.S. dollars).

According to the police, the suspects used China's social media platform WeChat to recommend so-called quality stocks to the victims. They then provided a fake trading platform and lured the victims to invest.

On Dec. 17, police caught the suspects in a raid, confiscating 289 mobile phones and 80 computers.

Further investigation into the case is underway.
