BEIJING, Dec. 27 (Xinhua) -- China has launched a new scientific cloud platform to provide scientists with accessible, accurate and secure data services, according to the China Science Daily Friday.
The China Science and Technology Cloud 2.0 version was developed by the Computer Network Information Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
The service platform gathers computing resources and scientific data resources to facilitate interdisciplinary scientific research. It can provide nine types of typical cloud services including computing, storage and data information.
The China Science and Technology Cloud has provided services for several major science projects and infrastructure works including the Earth Big Data Science Project and the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Radio Telescope (FAST).
Chinese scientists also called for international cooperation in cloud platforms for scientific research, proposing the establishment of a global open science cloud platform, according to the report.
