Chinese gangster film "S.W.A.T." leads mainland box office

BEIJING, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) -- Domestic gangster film "S.W.A.T." topped the Chinese mainland box office with 6.41 million yuan (around 916,700 U.S. dollars) in revenue on its opening day Friday, according to the China Movie Data Information Network Saturday.

The film tells the story of two Chinese S.W.A.T. (special weapons and tactics) teams busting a drug manufacturing den and safeguarding security in the city.

It was followed by "Sheep Without a Shepherd," a Chinese adaptation of a renowned Indian drama. The film pocketed 4.27 million yuan on its 15th day of screening.

Coming in third was "Ip Man 4," the latest installment in the Chinese martial arts film franchise "Ip Man" based on the life of a legendary Wing Chun master. It grossed about 2.28 million yuan.
