BEIJING, Dec. 31 (Xinhua) -- Defending champions Dongguan beat Zhejiang 86-75, while Beijing defeated Shanxi 87-84 in the 17th round of the 2019-2020 season of the Women's Chinese Basketball Association (WCBA) on Tuesday.
Dongguan was once leading by 27 points in the middle of third quarter, before Zhejiang embarked on a run of 13-4 in the final quarter powered by Zhang Min and Wan Jiyuan to fight back.
The defending champions, however, improved their defense after a timeout and extended the lead to 86-75 during the last quarter before sealing their fourth consecutive win 87-84.
Dongguan had five players in double figures, with Li Yueru claiming 19 points and 10 rebounds for her ninth double-double of the season.
Beijing beat Shanxi 87-84 in another decisive clash as Qi Site made a game-winning 3-pointer to turn the table 83-82 before Guo Zixuan missed the last shoot at home.
Teaira McCowan scored 28 points and 23 rebounds, Shi Xiufeng added 20 for Beijing. Despite her team's defeat, Elizabeth Cambage scored a game-high 38 points, and 10 rebounds for Shanxi.
Henan lost 72-98 to Bayi for their 17 straight defeat. They have yet to win a single game so far.
In other games on Tuesday, Sichuan beat Tianjin 109-89, Shaanxi defeated Daqing 96-90, Xinjiang routed Wuhan 107-62, Shandong outscored Shanghai 88-85, Jiangsu edged Inner Mongolia 97-66, Hebei thrash Fujian 84-66.
