What a wonderful scene! A heavy snowfall adds more glamour to Taiyuan Ancient County, making the old "Phoenix County" shining again.

TAIYUAN, Jan. 8, 2020 (Xinhua) -- The Taiyuan Ancient County is part of the Jinyang Ancient City relics found in today's Taiyuan city. It is dubbed the "Phoenix County" due to its overall layout that resembles a soaring phoenix.

As a province famous for its coal industry, Shanxi has abundant highland resources, and its icy period in winter is usually quite long, making it perfect for winter tourism.

Last year, Shanxi received nearly 650 million domestic tourists from January to September, an increase of 20.29 percent compared with the same period of 2018, according to the provincial department of culture and tourism.

Today, Shanxi boasts magnificent natural sceneries and landscapes with three World Cultural Heritage sites -- Pingyao, Yungang Grottoes and Mount Wutai -- attracting tourists around the world.
