WARSAW, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) -- The Polish Ambassador to Iraq, Beata Peksa, has been repatriated, the country's Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz told journalists here on Wednesday.

According to Czaputowicz, Peksa was evacuated at the request of the United Kingdom -- the Polish Embassy in Baghdad is located in the international zone of the British Embassy building complex.

The ambassador is currently in Poland and Czaputowicz said that she may later return to her post.

Meanwhile, Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak said on Wednesday that no Polish soldier currently stationed in Iraq had been hurt during Iran's attack on U.S. military bases in Iraq on Tuesday night. There are currently around 200 Polish soldiers stationed in Iraq. They are involved in North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) training missions, which have been suspended in the context of the U.S.-Iran tensions.

During a parliamentary session attended by Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki on Wednesday, several Polish opposition parties called for the complete withdrawal of Polish troops.

"We are taking care of our Polish soldiers, but in line with NATO procedures. We are in dialogue with our partners. We want to see de-escalation and the maintenance of peace and stability. The situation of our soldiers in Iraq is today under control," Morawiecki said.
