LES DIABLERETS, Switzerland, Jan.11 (Xinhua) -- Amanda Salzgeber continued her family's glory in Alpine Skiing by taking the Winter Youth Olympic Games's Alpine Combined Slalom gold medal here on Saturday.
Zalzgeber is the daughter of Calgary 1988 Winter Olympics' Alpine Combined champion Anita Wachter and 1993 world championship silver medallist Rainer Salzgeber.
"Certainly I can feel the pressure under my parents' success," said Zalzgeber, "but my mom always says she was her and I am me and I have to do my own things."
Zalzgeber finished 56.40 seconds in Friday's Super-G race, which was 0.13 seconds slower than gold medallist Amelie Klopfenstein and only 0.04 seconds behind the runner-up Noa Szollos.
"Last night my mom said it was possible for me to step on the podium!"
The Olympic Champion's daughter made it by leading Klopfenstein and Szollos 1.24 and 0.99 seconds respectively in Slalom race, creating a 0.95 seconds margin to the silver medallist, Szollos, under the combined dicipline.
"I am so happy for her, so proud she has now won a medal," said Zalzgeber's mother.
On the men's side, Auguste Aulnette from France and Norwegian Mikkel Remsoey tied with 1 minute 28.41 second to share the gold medal.
Both French and Norwegian were not among the fastest 5 in Friday's Super-G. The margin between Super-G 9th ranked Aulnette and the champion Adam Hofstedt is 0.71 seconds.
But the French showed his absolute advantage in Slalom, finishing with 0.23 seconds lead over the second fastest Remsoey. Then there came a tie between them which is really rare to happen.
"I've never met Aulnette but it feels really nice to share a gold with him," said Remsoey.
Adam Hofstedt finished as the bronze medallist.
