BEIJING, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- A song and dance drama honoring Huang Wenxiu, a former village official in southern China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, will debut in Baise, a city in Guangxi in March.

After graduating from Beijing Normal University in 2016, Huang returned to her hometown Baise and served as an official with the publicity department of the Baise municipal committee of the CPC.

Since March 2018, Huang had been leading the poverty alleviation efforts in Baini Village, Leye County, as the village's Party chief, lifting 418 people out of poverty.

Huang died in a rain-triggered flash flood at the age of 30 in June 2019, while returning from the city of Baise to Leye County.

She was posthumously awarded the title "role model of the times" in July and a national-level outstanding Party member in October 2019.

"The play is dedicated to the 2.8 million village officials and young Party members fighting against poverty, as well as over 770 officials who sacrificed their lives for poverty alleviation," said Tian Qinxin, director of the drama.

Over the past seven years, a total of 2.8 million cadres, including professors, doctors, veterans and management personnel from state-owned enterprises, have been sent to assist poverty relief work in poor regions. Enditem
