BEIJING, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) -- The State Symphony Orchestra of the Leningrad Region will perform at the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) on Jan. 28 and 29 in Beijing.

The Russian music ensemble will bring a series of classical western orchestral music, including compositions by Tchaikovsky and Dunayevsky, as well as music selections from movies of the Soviet Union.

The two-hour-long performance will be conducted by Mikhail Golikov, the artistic director and chief conductor of the orchestra, who annually gives more than 200 concerts in Russia, as well as in Europe and Asia.

As a successor of the cultural and creative heritage of the International Symphony Orchestra Tauride, the Leningrad's music group began its work at the Tauride Palace, the history of which is connected with the formation of Russian symphonic music.

The orchestra gives over 150 concerts every year and has performed in a number of prestigious concert halls in Denmark, Italy, Sweden, China and Finland, among other countries.
