ISLAMABAD, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- A blast hit a police check post in Pakistan's northwest provincial capital of Peshawar of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Tuesday evening, leaving at least 10 people injured including a policeman, a hospital official said.
Jamshed Khattak, a physician at the Hayatabad Medical Complex, told Xinhua that his hospital has received 10 injured people, including a policeman and five women, adding that the wounded people are being treated for minor injuries in the emergency center of the hospital.
Rescue teams, police and security forces have rushed to the site immediately after the blast for rescue and relief operation. The area has been cordoned off as police began an investigation into the incident.
The nature of the blast is not known yet. However, local reports said it could be a cracker blast, but no official has confirmed it.
No group or individual has claimed the blast yet.
