Ireland's November 2019 goods imports down by 24 pct

DUBLIN, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- Ireland imported a total of 6.7 billion euros (7.5 billion U.S. dollars) worth of goods in November 2019, down 24 percent compared with the same month of 2018, according to data released by the country's Central Statistics Office (CSO) on Wednesday.

In November 2019, the total value of goods exported by Ireland was 12.68 billion euros, down 2 percent over a year ago, said the CSO, adding that the trade surplus in the month stood at 5.98 billion euros, up by 46 percent year-on-year.

In the January-November period of 2019, the total value of Ireland's goods imports and exports was 219.8 billion euros, up 3.8 percent year-on-year.

Imports accounted for 79.1 billion euros, down by nearly 5 percent year-on-year, and exports for 140.7 billion euros, up by over 9 percent year-on-year.

Ireland's goods trade surplus in the first 11 months of 2019 stood at about 62 billion euros, up by nearly 35 percent compared with the same period of 2018.
