BEIRUT, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- Lebanon's state security arrested on Wednesday a Syrian national for joining the Islamic State (IS) militant group, the National News Agency reported.
The suspect admitted that he was seeking to secure weapons and planning to attack offices of one of the Lebanese political parties.
He also admitted to having planned to attack one of the Western embassies in Lebanon by using a drone.
The arrestee was referred to judicial bodies for further investigations and legal procedures.
Lebanon has, in the past few months, arrested a number of terrorists who were behind attacks in the country.
The latest terrorist attack in Lebanon was carried out by an IS member, who blew himself up in the northern city of Tripoli in June 2019, killing four members of the Lebanese army and internal security forces.
