GAZA, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) -- A Palestinian was killed and another injured on Saturday in two separate explosions in the south of the Gaza Strip, the Gaza health ministry said.
The killed Palestinian, identified as 36-year-old Mahdi Eid Rmelat, died as a result of a "mysterious explosion" in Rafah city in southern Gaza, said Ashraf al-Qedra, spokesman of the Gaza Ministry of Health.
Another man was critically injured, he added.
Local sources said the explosions were caused by two explosive remnants of war in the surrounding area of Gaza Airport.
No Israeli source was available for comment on the incident.
