TUNIS, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- French President Emmanuel Macron held a telephone conversation with Tunisian President Kais Saied on the results of Berlin conference on Libya and the development of the Libyan case.

The two presidents insisted on the need of Tunisia's participation in any upcoming initiative.

"Due to its geographical closeness to Libya, Tunisia is the most affected country by the situation prevailing today in Libya," the presidency quoted Saied as saying.

Tunisia on Friday received an official invitation from German Chancellor Angela Merkel to the Berlin Conference on Libya.

On Saturday, Tunisia announced its decision not to participate in the conference as it did not participate in the preliminary process that started last September.
