NANCHANG, Jan. 21 (Xinhua) -- With six players scoring double-digits, the visiting Fujian Sturgeons trounced the Bayi Rockets 114-88 in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) here on Tuesday, in both teams' final game before Chinese New Year.
With Wang Zhelin having played well in Fujian's previous two matches against Bayi this season, and home center Zou Yuchen recently returning, their meeting on court attracted much attention before the match.
"As Wang Zhelin scored his career-best total in his previous game against us, today we focused more on defending against him," said Bayi coach Wang Zhizhi.
Despite Bayi's best efforts to neutralize his talents, Wang registered a game-high 22 points, with Fujian players making 16 three-pointers with 18 shots from 25 attempts. Guard Eugene Jeter contributed 20 points and former NBA player Dante Cunningham added 19.
For Bayi, Zou Yuchen played more than 20 minutes, but seemed not to have fully recovered from injury, collecting just seven points and five rebounds. Four Bayi players scored double digits, with Fu Hao notching a team-high 17 points. Enditem
