Algerian president receives French FM

ALGIERS, Jan. 21 (Xinhua) -- Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune on Tuesday received visiting French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, official media reported.

The meeting was also attended by officials from the two countries.

Earlier on Tuesday, Le Drian was received by Prime Minister Abdelaziz Djerrad and had talks with his Algerian counterpart Sabri Boukadoum.

Le Drian told a joint press conference with Boukadoum that his country is keen to give a new impetus to bilateral ties.

"The two nations agreed to boost their cooperation at the highest level in 2020 in the sectors of security, economy, culture, justice and education," he added.

Boukadoum said Algiers and Paris agreed to "reactivate the various mechanisms that exist between us, in particular at the level of the the Algerian-French joint economic committee."

He added that he also discussed with Le Drian French investments in Algeria and support for French businessmen already present in Algeria or those wishing to enter this North African market. Enditem
