China's polar icebreaker Xuelong 2 has conducted a series of investigations of the ecosystem in Antarctica before it heads for Cape Town.


ABOARD XUELONG 2, Jan. 22, 2020 (Xinhua) -- China's polar icebreaker Xuelong 2, or Snow Dragon 2, heads for Cape Town of South Africa on Jan. 20, 2020.

The expedition team has completed the ice-breaking test of Xuelong 2 and the scientific research in the sea as scheduled. During its stop at Cape Town, Xuelong 2 will carry out personnel rotation and material supply, and plan to leave for the Changcheng Station in Antarctica on January 23.
