KABUL, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- Afghan lawmakers have approved a 428-billion-afghani (about 5.55 billion U.S. dollars) national budget for 1399 fiscal year on the Persian calendar, the country's Ministry of Finance reported Wednesday.
The 1399 fiscal year began on Dec. 22, 2019, and ends on Dec. 20, 2020.
"Afghanistan's Wolesi Jirga (Lower House of parliament) in a session on Wednesday approved the budget for fiscal year 1399," the ministry said in a statement.
Of the total amount of the budget, 289 billion afghani will be allocated for ordinary budget, while 139 billion afghani for development budget, according to the statement.
The ministry called on all budget units to make effective usage of the budget with all their potential and facilities on-time for the benefit of the country, according to the statement. (1 U.S. dollar = 77 afghani)
