SINGAPORE, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed lower on Friday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going down 0.53 percent, or 16.95 points, to close at 3,153.73.
A total of 1.99 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.59 billion Singapore dollars (about 1.17 billion U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 265 to 164.
The STI index went down 0.37 percent, or 11.89 points, to close at 3,170.68 on Thursday. Enditem
