MADRID, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) -- Friday's draw for the quarterfinals of Spain's Copa del Rey knockout competition sees FC Barcelona travel to face Athletic Club Bilbao in the San Mames Stadium.
The tie between the two sides with the most Cups in the history of the competition sees Barca return to the ground where they were beaten by an 89th minute overhead kick by Athletic striker Aritz Aduriz in the opening game of this season.
Athletic and Barca have played each other in three Cup finals in recent years with Barca getting the better of the Basque side in 2009, 2012 and 2015, with the last of those games played in Barca's Camp Nou.
Athletic reached the last eight on Tuesday after a tense penalty shoot-out away to Tenerife, while Barca beat Leganes 5-0 at home to Thursday night.
Reigning Copa del Rey holders, Valencia, who needed penalties to get past Cultural Leonesa on Wednesday, face a trip to play Granada, while Real Madrid's reward for beating Zaragoza is a home game against Real Sociedad, who currently sit in sixth place in the Liga Santander and have Martin Odegaard on loan from Madrid in their side.
Finally second division giant killers Mirandes, who have defeated Celta Vigo and Sevilla on their way into the last eight will play Villarreal in their 5,700 Anduva Stadium hoping to reach the semifinals for the second time in the club's history after their achievements of 2012, when they became the only third tier side to reach the last four.
