JERUSALEM, Feb. 2 (Xinhua) -- Chinese electric scooters will be sold for the first time in Israel, as an Israeli dealership will offer models of Niu Technologies, a Chinese world-leading manufacturer of smart e-scooters, the Hebrew-language newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported on Sunday.

Niu offers five major models of lithium-ion battery-powered electric two wheeled vehicles.

The batteries of these models are removable and can be recharged at home within 3.5 to 7 hours.

The range of scooters is 30 to 170 km depending on the model, with a maximum speed of 45 to 70 km/h.

The smart scooters also connect to Niu application that provides comprehensive remaining battery level and range estimation, GPS positioning, security alert, past routes, riding statistics and weather forecast.

The scooters will be imported to Israel by Universal Motors Israel (UMI) company, the official importer of Chevrolet, Cadillac and Isuzu vehicles.

Niu Technologies, based in Changzhou in eastern China, was founded in 2014, and is traded at Nasdaq with a market cap of about 651 million U.S. dollars.
