Bangladesh export income falls 5.21 pct in July 2019-January 2020

DHAKA, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh's total exports in the first seven months of the current 2019-20 fiscal year (July 2019-June 2020) declined by 5.21 percent to nearly 23 billion U.S. dollars, official data showed Tuesday.

According to the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) data, Bangladesh fetched 22,919.47 million U.S. dollars from exports in seven months of the current fiscal year.

The EPB data showed export performance for January was 4.218 billion U.S. dollars, down 1.70 percent year-on-year.

Bangladesh set its export target in 2019-20 fiscal year at 45.50 billion U.S. dollars including 38.20 billion U.S. dollars from readymade garment products.

In the fist seven months of this fiscal year, however, readymade garment exports from Bangladesh fell by 5.71 percent to 19.06 billion U.S. dollars. Enditem
