WUHAN, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- The city of Huanggang, hard-hit by the novel coronavirus in central China's Hubei Province, is taking measures to ensure centralized hospitalization and quarantine for patients infected with the virus or with a fever before Thursday.

All patients confirmed to be infected with the virus in Huanggang have been hospitalized for treatment in designated hospitals, the local epidemic control headquarters said Wednesday, adding that new confirmed patients will be quarantined and hospitalized the same day they are confirmed.

Patients suspected to be infected with the virus will be put in centralized quarantine for treatment, the headquarters said.

Patients with a fever that may be infected with the novel coronavirus will also be put in centralized quarantine for treatment, while close contacts of confirmed or suspected cases will be subject to centralized quarantine for medical observation, according to the headquarters.

Neighboring the provincial capital Wuhan, where the first case of novel coronavirus infection was reported in December, Huanggang is one of the cities worst hit by the epidemic. As of Tuesday, Huanggang had reported 1,645 confirmed infection cases.
