NANNING, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) -- Teachers from the Guangxi University for Nationalities have written letters in seven ASEAN languages to students to remind them to protect themselves amid the outbreak of pneumonia.

"We care about all students from home and abroad, so we decided to remind them about keeping safe and sound in a unique way," said Wu Dawei, deputy secretary of the Party committee of the university's School of Southeast Asian Studies.

"The letters are concise and easy to understand. I hope the students will continue reading at home during the extended winter holiday and have faith in overcoming the epidemic," said Li Chunxiao, a Thai language professor at the university.

Apart from writing letters, a WeChat group dedicated to the translation of epidemic news was also set up.

Xie Yan, a postgraduate who participated in the translation work, said although they cannot go to Wuhan like the various medical personnel, they would like to make their own contributions with their knowledge.

The seven ASEAN languages include Lao, Thai, Cambodian, Vietnamese, Burmese, Indonesian and Malaysian.
