More than 3,200 couples get married on Valentine's Day in Mongolia

ULAN BATOR, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- A total of 3,240 couples obtained marriage certificates on Valentine's Day in Mongolia, according to statistics released by the country's National Statistics Office (NSO) on Friday.

More than 60 percent of the population aged 18 and above is married, the NSO said, adding that the average age at first marriage for males is 29, and 26 for females.

There are 9,236 people born on Feb. 14, with the most common names "Khosbayar" meaning "double celebrations" in Mongolian. Three have the name meaning "Valentine."

Valentine's Day is celebrated every year on Feb. 14 and is a festival of romantic love when many people exchange cards, letters, flowers and gifts with their spouses or partners.
