LISBON, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- The Portuguese economy grew 2.0 percent in 2019, the country's National Statistics Institute (INE) said on Friday.
The INE said that in the fourth quarter of 2019, Portugal's gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 2.2 percent year-on-year and by 0.6 percent compared to the third quarter of 2019.
The figures released by INE exceed by one-tenth the projections of the Portuguese government, the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the Portuguese Public Finance Council, but are in line with the forecasts of the Banco de Portugal, the central bank of Portugal, and the European Commission.
