Greece, Lebanon agree to boost ties: FM

BEIRUT, Feb. 19 (Xinhua) -- Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias announced Wednesday that Greece will adopt a plan with Lebanon to boost economic ties, LBCI local TV channel reported.

"It is very important to increase cooperation between Lebanon and Greece in several areas which would boost bilateral ties between the two countries," Dendias was quoted as saying during his meeting with Lebanese President Michel Aoun.

Aoun expressed thanks for Greece's participation in the United Nations Interim Forces in Lebanon which preserves security in south Lebanon.

The two officials also discussed ways of facing the current economic and financial challenges.

Dendias also met with Lebanese Foreign Minister Nassif Hitti. The two officials highlighted the topics that will be discussed between Lebanon, Greek and Cyprus in a upcoming summit.

Dendias arrived in Lebanon on Wednesday for a one-day official visit to meet with top Lebanese officials and discuss ways of boosting relations between the two countries.
