JERUSALEM/RAMALLAH, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- Israeli Defense Minister Naftali Bennett said Thursday that agricultural imports from the West Bank to Israel will be resumed.
The minister notified the Palestinian Authority (PA) on the resumption of exports "after a (Palestinian) boycott on Israeli beef has been lifted," according to a statement issued by Bennett's office.
Palestinians decided to halt calf imports from Israel in September. Israel then issued a ban on agricultural imports from the PA in January which in turn prompted the PA to end imports of Israeli agricultural products.
Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Ishtaye posted on his Facebook page on Thursday saying that the Palestinians are determined to carry on "boosting the Palestinian product and activate its trade with the world."
The Palestinian ministries of agriculture and national economy announced that the Palestinians have started importing livestock, including calves and other products directly from all over the world.
The ministries said that a shipment of calves has been directly imported from Portugal.
