BEIJING, Feb. 24 (Xinhua) -- The China Three Gorges Corporation announced Monday that it had simultaneously begun the construction of a batch of new energy projects.

The 25 new energy projects, scattered in 14 provinces and regions, involve a total investment of 58 billion yuan (about 8.24 billion U.S. dollars), creating about 17,000 new jobs, according to the company.

The Chinese hydropower enterprise said this move would directly push all links in the industrial chain to resume work and production in a coordinated way and promote adjustments of the local industrial structure.

Among these projects, the offshore wind power projects in the city of Yangjiang, Guangdong Province and Rudong County, Jiangsu Province, boast the largest investment, with their aggregate investment amounting to 42.4 billion yuan.

The two projects will install a total of 414 wind turbines which are expected to generate about 7.2 billion kWh of electricity annually when they begin operation at the end of 2021.
