GAZA, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- Owners of car companies inaugurated a three-day car exhibition, the first of its kind in the Gaza City, organizers said on Wednesday.

The exhibition, called "the Kingdom of Cars," includes items related to car industries, with the participation of about 40 companies, said the organizers.

The participants include car companies owners, representatives of driving schools and owners of gas stations in the Gaza Strip.

At the exhibition, opened on Tuesday, companies presented their international trademarks and explained to the public more information on advanced technology.

Several participating companies showed in the exhibition cars spare parts, such as car doors, tires and various kinds of oils that are used for car engines.

The exhibition also included portraits of car designs. Two domestically made cars were placed in the middle of the exhibition hall in the city.

Ahmad Barhoum, executive director of the exhibition, told Xinhua that the main goal of the exhibition is to make the public know about car industry.

"Although Gaza has been under the Israeli siege for more than 13 years, but we have so many international car trademarks," he said.

Barhoum added that "it is very important for the people of Gaza to learn more about technological development in the world."

He clarified that the exhibition is part of a series of activities that his company will carry out "in a bid to keep Gaza people updated on car industry development."

Amir Doghmosh, owner of one of the companies that are joining the exhibition, said "it is the first time ever that such an exhibition is organized in Gaza."

"As owners of companies specialized in cars and car spare parts, it is so useful for us to get the public involved and provide more knowledge on cars," he said, while explaining to a visitor the need to have a special kind of wheels for his car.

He added that "it is so important for the people of the Gaza Strip to know more about cars, and necessary to hold such kind of exhibitions, as it helps boost the weak and deteriorated economy in Gaza."

Hebba Ghalayeeni, a young woman in her mid-20s, visited the exhibition and was busy taking pictures with her friends inside a classic Mercedes Benz made in early 1970s.

"We only see such old cars in classic movies, and it is the first time that I see them in my life," she said, adding that "I came here especially to take some photos."

Ghalayeeni expressed her hope that more exhibitions will be held in Gaza, including themes on cars and arts, especially for the people who have never been out of Gaza.
