TIRANA, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- The Ministry of Health and Social Protection in Albania has decided to allocate an additional 1 million U.S. dollars to the budget of hospitals to increase the current stock on personal protective equipment, Deputy Minister Mira Rakacolli announced here on Wednesday.

"Following yesterday's meeting of the Committee of Experts, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection has decided to allocate an additional 1 million U.S. dollars in funds to increase the stock of personal protective equipment in health facilities," Rakacolli said at a press conference.

The Albanian government has added measures in health structures and at all border crossings across the country to identify and prevent the spread of the new coronavirus.

According to Rakacolli, a total of 4,800 travelers have been screened at all border crossings in Albania in the past 24 hours, adding that Albania had no confirmed case of the virus.

The Ministry of Health and Social Protection recommends all citizens coming to Albania from affected areas enforce self-quarantine for a period of 14 days.

The budget allocated to the ministry for 2020 is 77.7 billion Albanian lek (around 691.3 million U.S dollars).
