Blast kills child, wounds 3 others in Afghanistan's eastern Ghazni

GHAZNI, Afghanistan, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- A child lost his life and three others sustained injuries as a mine left over from the years of wars exploded in the eastern Ghazni province on Thursday, said a news release of the provincial administration here Friday.

The deadly blast took place in Deh Yak district on Thursday evening when the innocent children were playing on a ground and found an unexploded ordnance which went off after touching by the ill-fated children. One Child Was killed on the spot and three others were injured, the news release said.

Afghanistan is one of the most mine contaminated countries of the world and unexploded ordnance left over from the past years of war often claim the lives of civilians especially the children.
