Two people were shot dead during a midnight attack by gunmen in Nigeria's northwestern town of Bagwai.
ABUJA, March 4 (Xinhua) -- Two people were shot dead during a midnight attack by gunmen in Nigeria's northwestern town of Bagwai, local police said on Tuesday.
The police in the northwestern state of Kano said several shops were also burned down by the attackers who hit the town midnight hours on Monday, shooting indiscriminately at the locals.
The motive of the attackers was not immediately known, according to Abdullahi Haruna, spokesman for the police.
He said an investigation has been launched into the attack, adding that security had been beefed up in the area to prevent future attacks. ■
