DUBAI, March 8 (Xinhua) -- Chinese women's tennis team made it to the Fed Cup play-offs as top of the Asian/Oceania Group 1 after they notched up a 3-0 victory against South Korea here on Saturday.
After an intense week of round-robin play between six Asian teams, China topped the group by winning all five of the ties, and going 14-1 in matches.
The Chinese team will compete against the Netherlands in April for the play-offs.
"It's been a great tournament for us. We had a very strong team this time and we were helping each other and we won all our matches. I'm so happy we're the champions," said Zhang Shuai, one of the prominent players representing the Chinese team this week.
The Chinese team comprises of three top-35 players, Wang Qiang, Zheng Saisai, Zhang Shuai, on the WTA rankings. Peng Shuai and Xu Yifan are doubles masters.
China beat India 3-0 in their opening match of the Fed Cup Asia/Oceania Group 1 on Tuesday, before downing Indonesia by the same scoreline in their second tie on Wednesday.
The Chinese team swept past Chinese Taipei 3-0 on Thursday and clinched their fourth victory in a row by defeating Uzbekistan 2-1 on Friday.
