Tunisia closes land borders with Libya over COVID-19

TUNIS, March 16 (Xinhua) -- Tunisia closed its land borders with Libya in a bid to curb the outbreak of COVID-19 in the country, Tunisian Transport Minister Anouar Maarouf said on Monday.

"The land border with Libya has been closed since Sunday evening," the private radio station Mosaique FM quoted the minister as saying.

"Tunisia today is experiencing exceptional and dangerous situation ... and all decisions that protect the health of Tunisians must be taken," he added.

The Tunisian health ministry announced on Sunday that the number of confirmed coronavirus infections in Tunisia has risen to 20, including 11 imported and nine locals. Enditem
