NANCHANG, March 17 (Xinhua) -- A silver pheasant has been released into the wild in eastern China's Jiangxi Province, according to the Jiulingshan Nature Reserve on Monday.

The silver pheasant, under second-class national protection, was found by Shu Xinren, a villager in Daqiao Village near the reserve on Sunday.

"I called the nature reserve immediately after I spotted the bird that was stuck between guard bars," said Shu.

The staff from the nature reserve rushed to the rescue and examined the silver pheasant, whose health was in good condition.

They released the bird into the wild on Sunday afternoon.

"To better protect wild animals, we have installed more than 100 infrared cameras in addition to daily inspections," said Shu Tesheng, a senior engineer with the reserve who was also on the rescue panel.

He said that they mobilized the locals to participate in wildlife protection as well.

A large number of wildlife species under state protection have been spotted since the nature reserve was founded, including Elliot's pheasants and white-eared night herons, as the reserve attaches great importance to its ecological system and the habitats of wildlife.
