5.9-magnitude quake hits Tibet: CENC

BEIJING, March 20 (Xinhua) -- A 5.9-magnitude earthquake jolted Tingri County of Xigaze City, southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, at 9:33 a.m. Friday, with no casualties or property losses reported yet, according to the China Earthquake Administration.

The administration asked relevant agencies to speed up the collection of related disaster information, cooperate with the local government in emergency response and respond to public concerns.

The epicenter of the earthquake was monitored at 28.63 degrees north latitude and 87.42 degrees east longitude, with a depth of 10 km, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).
