The emergency status for Jakarta, which is home to more than 10 million people, takes effect for 14 days as of Friday.
JAKARTA, March 20 (Xinhua) -- Governor of Indonesian captial city Jakarta Anies Baswedan has declared an emergency status here on Friday afternoon in a bid to curb the spread of the COVID-19.
"Today, we declare that Jakarta is in the state of emergency for the COVID-19 outbreak," he told a press conference at the city hall.
The emergency status for the city which is home to more than 10 million people takes effect for 14 days as of Friday.
Baswedan said the status could be extended depending on the situation.

The COVID-19 has claimed 32 lives in Indonesia, according to the latest data of the Indonesian National Disaster Management Agency issued on Friday.
A total of 369 COVID-19 cases were confirmed in the archipelagic country. Most of them were found in Jakarta.■
