MUSCAT, March 22 (Xinhua) -- An Omani coronavirus panel decided to reduce the number of employees working in government agencies by 70 percent nationwide, it said in a statement on Sunday.
The decision will be implemented as of Monday until further notice, according to the statement released by a government committee formed to handle the COVID-19.
All government agencies, including ministries have been asked to introduce work-from-home policies in a manner to ensure the progress of work in each organization.
The committee also stopped printing newspapers and publications of all kinds to prevent their circulation, shut down customer service departments in all public and private agencies and use online services instead and close all money exchange offices.
According to government statistics, the total number of COVID-19 cases registered in Oman is 55, of which 17 have recovered so far.
