BEIJING, March 24 (Xinhua) -- Many aspects of the novel coronavirus are still unknown and experience is being accumulated in dealing with it, a Chinese medical expert said Tuesday.
From what is currently known, the novel coronavirus is more contagious than the SARS virus and has higher pathogenicity than the flu virus and lower pathogenicity than the SARS virus, said Wang Guiqiang, an infectious disease expert with Peking University First Hospital, at a press conference.
It also takes longer to get the virus out of patients' bodies than with SARS and flu, Wang noted.
"Hopefully more observation and research will give us a comprehensive picture of the characteristics of the novel coronavirus," he said.
