MUSCAT, March 24 (Xinhua) -- Oman announced Tuesday the suspension of all international and domestic flights to and from all its airports, starting from March 29 until further notice.

This suspension excluded the trips to and from Musandam Governorate, 600 km away from the capital Muscat, and also excluded air cargo flights.

This move came in accordance with decisions taken by the Supreme Committee in charge of dealing with the effects of the novel coronavirus after its meeting on Tuesday at the headquarters of the Omani Ministry of Interior.

The committee directed the relevant authorities to allocate places to deal with the dead patients according to the requirements of infection risks, the committee said in a statement.

The committee also called for opening a bank account to receive financial donations under the management of the Ministry of Health, adding that the ministry will announce the details of this bank account later.

The committee asked the relevant authorities to arrange for the return of Omani citizens, particularly students, and provide them with institutional quarantine.

On Sunday, the Supreme Committee decided to reduce the number of employees in the workplaces of government agencies by 70 percent.

The committee also called on the heads of government units to ensure that the basic work is not affected by the reduction of employees, and to take precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the pandemic.
