RIO DE JANEIRO, March 24 (Xinhua) -- Shakhtar Donetsk's Brazilian midfielder Taison has expressed a desire to return to his original club Internacional after a decade in Ukraine.

The 32-year-old has 15 months remaining on his Shakhtar contract but says he doesn't know what the immediate future holds because of the coronavirus.

"My dream is to go back to Internacional and beat [local rivals] Gremio. You have no idea how much I want that. Let's see what happens," Taison told Brazil's Radio Atlantida on Tuesday.

"But I don't know when I'll be able to return to Brazil," he said of the uncertainty surrounding the global pandemic, which has halted European football indefinitely. "I don't even know when the championships are going to resume or whether we're going to have a holiday in the middle of the year," he added.

Taison made 69 appearances for Internacional before joining Metalist Kharkiv in 2010. Three years later he was signed by Metalist's Ukrainian rivals Shakhtar, for whom he has played 156 matches and scored 32 goals.

The playmaker has been capped eight times for Brazil and was a member of his country's squad at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
