SHANGHAI, March 28 (Xinhua) -- Shanghai reported 17 new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) from overseas on Friday, the municipal health commission said Saturday.
The new reports have brought the total number of imported cases in Shanghai to 146. Currently, 16 suspected imported cases are being screened.
The patients have been sent to designated hospitals for treatment. A total of 88 close contacts on flights have been put under concentrated medical observation.
The municipality reported no new confirmed indigenous COVID-19 cases on Friday. Total confirmed domestic cases remained at 339.
As of Friday, a total of 334 patients have been discharged from hospital after recovery and five died of the disease.
Among the 146 patients being treated in hospital, 139 were imported cases, three were still in severe condition and six others in critical condition, the commission said.
