Hong Kong reports 42 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases, 31 preliminary positive cases

HONG KONG, March 28 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong's Centre for Health Protection (CHP) reported on Saturday 42 newly confirmed cases of COVID-19 and another 31 cases preliminarily tested positive for the virus.

The 42 confirmed cases, which involve 19 females and 23 males, brought the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Hong Kong to 560.

Among them 37 had travel history during the incubation period, including 22 students who were studying overseas, Head of the CHP's Communicable Disease Branch Chuang Shuk-kwan said at a daily press briefing on Saturday afternoon.

All the five patients who had no travel history are related to the clustered outbreaks in bars, including two customers, two bar staff members and a family member of one staff member, according to Chuang.

Chief Manager for Patient Safety and Risk Management of Hong Kong's Hospital Authority Sara Ho said at the briefing that 396 patients diagnosed with COVID-19 are currently being treated at 14 hospitals across Hong Kong, and the Hospital Authority will arrange vehicles to take the newly diagnosed patients to hospitals.
