TAIPEI, March 28 (Xinhua) -- The total number of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in Taiwan has increased by 16 to 283, the island's epidemic monitoring agency said Saturday.
Fourteen of the new patients, five men and nine women, were believed to have contracted the virus during their trips overseas, including trips to the United States, Britain, Spain, Australia and the Philippines, the agency said in a press release.
The other two patients are believed to be infected locally since they have not left Taiwan recently, but the infection sources remain unclear.
Among the island's confirmed COVID-19 cases, 241 were imported. Thirty of the confirmed patients have recovered, and two died of the disease. The rest are in stable condition.
