"China clearly shows an example of actions in the interests of the whole world in the spirit of a community with a shared future for mankind," Glazyev said.

MOSCOW, April 3 (Xinhua) -- A senior official of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has said he looks forward to cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and China in the fight against the coronavirus.

Sergei Glazyev, member of the board (minister) of the EEC, told Xinhua in a recent interview that China has showed its capacity of mobilization in the face of the COVID-19 epidemic.

As a result of coordinated actions of China's entire governing system and the people, "the enemy was defeated," said the Russian official who is in charge of integration and macroeconomics for the EEC, the permanent regulatory body of the EAEU.

"China clearly shows an example of actions in the interests of the whole world in the spirit of a community with a shared future for mankind," Glazyev said.

He believes "the silk road of health" is a good and inspiring idea, and the EAEU members and China need to immediately begin to develop a common bio-safety program and conduct joint bioengineering studies.

Despite the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak, Glazyev said he is sure that the Chinese economy will recover quickly.

But as in the 2008-2009 economic crisis, Russia and other EAEU states are more vulnerable to international speculation, said the official.

As many EAEU enterprises are closely connected with the Chinese market, there is a need for coordinated action to mitigate the economic impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

He suggested wide use of information technologies that enable automatic customs clearance, and the establishment of "green corridors" for participants in foreign economic activity.

Established in 2015, the EAEU is a Moscow-led regional bloc consisting of Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus and Armenia.
