YAOUNDE, April 6 (Xinhua) -- Seven civilians and two soldiers were killed in two separate attacks Sunday evening by suspected members of the terror group Boko Haram in Cameroon's Far North region, according to local sources.

One attack occurred in the town of Amchide, which borders with Nigeria and has been regularly targeted by Boko Haram since the start of its activities in Cameroon in 2014. Two suicide bombers, who also died, detonated their explosives in a place very frequented by local people after the evening prayer, according to local residents.

Fifteen others were also injured in the Amchide bombing.

"The place where the explosion took place is located not far from the local primary school, and is very crowded in the evening," local resident Madi Ali told Xinhua over the phone. "Obviously, they (the civilians) were the target of the terrorists."

Also on Sunday, two Cameroonian soldiers were killed in a suspected Boko Haram ambush in Zigague on the No. 1 national road, also in the Far North region, according to security sources.

The attackers fled with the soldiers' weapons, the sources said.

On March 23, Boko Haram attacked the Chadian army on the island of Boma in Lake Chad, leaving at least 92 dead and 47 wounded.

The Chadian army then launched a massive operation, dubbed "Anger of Boma," to kick out the jihadists. Some elements of Boko Haram fled to neighboring countries, including Cameroon.
