ANKARA, April 6 (Xinhua) -- Turkey on Monday reported 3,148 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number to 30,217.

Turkey registered 75 more fatalities from the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours and the death toll surged to 649, Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca tweeted.

A total of 1,415 patients are treated in intensive care units and 966 more are intubated, he said, noting the total recoveries are 1,326.

"Our daily test number will reach 30,000 soon," the minister said.

On March 11, Turkey reported its first COVID-19 case.
